Vêtements de Guerre

Vêtements de Guerre is inspired by armament and the necessity to protect oneself in an otherwise chaotic world. Through various specialized textile applications, such as laser cutting and appliqué, Vêtements de Guerre focuses on guarding vulnerable areas of the body to give a sense of edgy femininity.

Materials

In Vêtements de Guerre, I utilize laser cut wool as well as reverse appliqué techniques to further the inspiration drawn from body armor. By pairing these heavier fabrics with fine silks, the garments are able to physically illustrate the parallel between venerability and strength.

Process

To create the laser cut pattern, I vectorized geometric shapes that I discovered in the lines in body armor throughout history. Then I exported the vectors into the Lasercamm software that then translated the shapes into my fabric.
